About the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. The great Fort Worth Stockyards, once home of the largest livestock market in the Southwest, is now the new emergent entertainment district in FW-D metroplex with a twice daily cattle drive, family entertainment, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum, the historic Livestock Exchange Building, daily historic walking tours, Billy Bob’s Texas, Stockyards Station, Stockyards Championship Rodeo, the Texas Trail of Fame and more.
About the Fort Worth Herd On June 12, 1999 the Fort Worth Herd conducted its inaugural cattle drive bringing 15 Texas Longhorns, one for each decade of Fort Worth’s 150 year history, from downtown to the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Since then, the Herd has returned the romance and mystique of cowboys and cattle drives to Fort Worth. Twice daily, at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., the herd of Texas Longhorns is driven down Exchange Avenue by genuine cowhands offering spectators from around the world an unforgettable glimpse into the past. You’ll hear the jingle of the spurs, the cattle bawling and the rhythm of the hoof beats. As the Herd passes, a bygone era comes to life before your eyes. As of January 1, 2007 the herd has completed 5,353 cattle drives down East Exchange Avenue with crowds in excess of 250,000 each year.
