HISTORIC FORT WORTH STOCKYARDS TO CELEBRATE
NATIONAL DAY OF THE AMERICAN COWBOY JULY 28th
FORT WORTH, TX – The Fort Worth Stockyards will celebrate the National Day of the American Cowboy on Saturday, July 28th 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with events in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards that will educate visitors and honor the American Cowboy and the influences of the Charro, Vaquero, Native American and African American Cowboys and Cowgirls.
On March 28, 2007, Wyoming’s US Senator Craig Thomas, sponsored the National Day of the American Cowboy resolution in the Senate. Now in its third year, the National Day recognizes cowboys and cowgirls as a significant part of our nation’s history. The resolution asks that Saturday, July 28, 2007 be proclaimed as the official day of recognition for the Cowboy. This is the third year for the event. www.nationaldayofthecowboy.com
Fort Worth Mayor Michael Moncrief has proclaimed July 28, 2007 National Day of the American Cowboy in Fort Worth. The proclamation will be announced during the July 24th City Council Meeting.
“It is so important that we celebrate our great western heritage, and pay tribute to the cowboys and cowgirls that have shaped the lives we live today. We are very excited about the Mayor’s proclamation and July 28th. What better place to celebrate cowboys and cowgirls than the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards”, says Pam Minick, local cowgirl and Billy Bob’s Texas Marketing Director.
